Check out this interesting article from the New York Times. It states taht a new theory has occured which states that dreams are a warm-up for the day ahead. I am not sure I buy the theory, but it is plausible that it is all or part of the story.

I found this little tidbit on topdreaminterpretation.com and found it interesting. Here is some of the quote.

Fact is: the Christian religion ignores the dream life of people and the world of dreams in general. And they do this although all prophets legitimated themselves with dreams. With that, religion ignores the inner Spirit. Religion has no vivid inner Spirit. ......

..... What is a religion that ignores dreams and dream interpretation? Such a religion ignores the inner Spirit and therefore this religion is "spiritless".

Hi Harley, Welcome to DreamWorkers.org!

All dreams have meaning in some manner. Some may be just a retelling of your thoughts or events for the past day or two. But regardless, it means something.

However many dreams go beyond just processing recent events. They warn people of things that are happening that may not be being acknowledged by the conscious mind. Usually these dreams are triggered by events in life that the subconscous "sees" but we ignore. Many times dreams are about your thoughts and desires yet hold information about making a decision. Dreamworking can be great fun, but also very helpful in life if you listen to them carefully.

Peace, John

ANYONE familiar with the films of Federico Fellini knows that he gave importance to dreams. But the extent of that devotion has become fully evident only now, with the publication of "Il Libro dei Sogni" -- "The Book of Dreams." These sketches, mostly done with variously colored felt-tip pens, are a reminder that Fellini came to Rome in 1939 to study law but instead spent two years as a cartoonist and writer for a satirical fortnightly.

From the Hinustan Times, June 2, 2008.

Apparently this doctor has been reading my material. He agrees with everything I have said for 15 years about dreams...

Dreams that have Meaning
by Dr Prem Kumar Sharma

There are too many recorded incidents to dismiss dreams as mere "vestiges of the day" that get projected on the silver screen of the mind at night.

Our own experience also points out the fact that, at times, dreams do try to tell us something vital or important, but we are unable to comprehend them.

In my years of experience in interpreting dreams, I have gained some immense insights into the meanings and workings of dreams. ...

...
All dream imagery is symbolic. Each dream symbol is person specific. In other words, what a symbol represents for one person can have an entirely different meaning for another. This is the reason why dream dictionaries generally prove useless. Of course, a common streak runs through all symbols, but they have to be interpreted in the context of the dream content.
Our own experience also points out the fact that, at times, dreams do try to tell us something vital or important, but we are unable to comprehend them.
